A bicycle kickstand on Black Friday can only be compared after looking at your frame: mounting plate behind the bottom bracket, and its spacing, or mounting on the stays. Many side, central, and double models are on sale, a good chance to equip a bike that doesn't have one. Then check the wheel size covered by the adjustable kickstand and, for an electric or loaded bike, the weight limit stated by the manufacturer.
Wheel size matters too: a kickstand rated 24-28 adjusts for these diameters, a 20-inch version is aimed at kids' bikes and small wheels.
A side stand is enough for a lightweight, lightly loaded bike. For an electric bike, a cargo bike, or to install a child in a seat, a central or double kickstand keeps the bike upright on both wheels. Before comparing two crossed-out prices, read the title to the end: “x20” or “x5” indicates a lot intended for workshops, which shouldn't be compared to a single sold part, and “OEM” refers to first-fit presentation. A discount is also judged by identical spacing and wheel size, as the Wave at 18 mm and the one at 40 mm are two distinct references. Details on mounts and loads can be found on the bike kickstand page, open all year round.
Ursus, an Italian manufacturer, offers multiple variants of the same model: the Wave in two spacings, the Elegance in 20 inches or 24-26 inches, rated for 25 kg, the Kaiser up to 29 inches.
XLC handles non-standard mounts: adjustable small kickstand for kids' bikes, model pinching onto the bottom bracket, adapter dedicated to a specific frame.
Pletscher, a Swiss company, sells both its double Twin kickstand, 320 mm long, and a side stand with a plate that can be cut for wheels from 20 to 28 inches.
Kellys, a bike manufacturer, offers its Kick family, Kickstart, Kickback, Kickflip, and E-Kick for electric bikes, often in two versions, standard and OEM.
A kickstand is often installed at the same time as mudguards at Black Friday; for city riding, check out bells and mirrors, grouped with the rest in bike protections. Outside of promotions, look for discontinued models at clearance and recent references in new arrivals.
Check under the frame, between the two chainstays, just behind the bottom bracket: a flat plate with one or two threaded holes indicates a rear mount. Measure the spacing between the holes before choosing.
Yes, if its advertised load exceeds the weight of the equipped bike, including battery and bags. Beyond that, or to load a child while stopped, a double kickstand remains more stable.
These frames generally do not have a plate: you will need a clamp kickstand on the chainstays. On a carbon frame, consult the frame manufacturer's advice before tightening a clamp.
Around Black Friday, the Friday after Thanksgiving, which focuses the promotion. Vélo-Store does not limit it to that day: its Black Friday discounts on kickstands apply throughout November. For a single bike, choose a reference sold individually and not a workshop lot.
Loosen the adjustment screw, set the bike down, then adjust until it tilts slightly, wheels on the ground. Some kickstands can be cut to the desired length: measure twice before cutting.
