An electric bike battery during Black Friday can only be purchased with the exact reference of your system in hand: the same brand and capacity are not enough. The discounts during this event also apply to chargers, mounts, and protective equipment, as well as batteries for electronic transmission, range extenders, and lighting.
A replacement battery must match the motor, mounting method and generation of the system. Take note of the label on the current battery: reference, such as BT-EN405 or BT-E8035 from Shimano, capacity in watt-hours and voltage. The format matters just as much: rack battery, on the diagonal tube or integrated into the frame, each with its own mount. A discount only applies between two batteries of the same reference: compare struck-through prices and displayed prices at identical capacity and format, then read the product sheet. A higher capacity is only possible if the manufacturer allows it for your bike. It extends the range, without changing the assistance limit: derestricting an electric bike is prohibited by the Highway Code. The other batteries for the bike are shown on the bike batteries page.
A charger is chosen for a specific system, with the correct voltage and plug: do not try another one. The page also includes charging ports, attachment units, a lock for frame battery and neoprene covers, useful in cold weather or on a bike rack.
The electronic groups have their own batteries: internal for the Di2 from Shimano, housed in the derailleurs for the eTap AXS from SRAM, sold in sets from Campagnolo. Range extenders, in the shape of a bottle, attach to the bottle cage of a compatible electric bike. Some lighting batteries complete the offer; the lamps themselves are on the bike lighting page from Black Friday, and navigation on the counters and GPS page of the operation. The whole set is on the Black Friday bike electronics page; for the rest of the year, discontinued batteries go to clearance and new models to new arrivals.
Mahle offers two non-interchangeable bottle-shaped range extenders: the one for the X35+ system, with 208 Wh, recharges the main battery during the ride; the eX1, previously e185, serves the X20, X30 and XS systems.
Shimano codes its Steps batteries by format: BT-EN404 and BT-EN405 for rack-mounted, BT-E8035 and BT-EN805 for frame-integrated, not forgetting Di2 batteries and their chargers.
Bosch is present with the PowerTube 625, a 625 Wh battery to fit into the frame, and a locking kit for frame battery.
Yamaha provides 400 and 500 Wh batteries in 36 V for its electric bike systems, along with the brand's charger.
SRAM uses the same battery for the front and rear derailleurs of its eTap AXS groups, recharged on a dedicated charger, in USB-C version on the page.
On the label stuck to the battery, with the capacity in Wh and the voltage. The bike manual mentions it as well.
No: use the charger specified by the system manufacturer, whose voltage, current and plug match the battery. An unsuitable charger can damage it.
Partially charged, in a dry and temperate place, protected from frost and heat. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and check the charge from time to time.
No: it offers more range, not more speed. Assistance remains cut off at the same speed, regardless of the battery.
On Vélo-Store, yes: Black Friday corresponds to the Friday after Thanksgiving, but discounts on batteries and chargers continue throughout the month. Keep the reference from the label handy before comparing two prices.
