Four ways to install a baby seat
- Clamp on the luggage rack: the width and diameter of the luggage rack tubes must fit within the specified range, just like for Polisport Koari or Minia.
- MIK plate: a clip-on plate receives the seat in one motion, as long as the luggage rack is MIK compatible or MIK HD.
- Frame: without a luggage rack, a support fixed to the seat tube holds the seat; check the diameter and shape of the tube, round or oval.
- Front: a small seat attaches to the steering tube, sometimes with an adapter that leaves space for an electric bike's display.
Age, weight and contents of a discounted seat
A child travels in a baby seat once they can sit up by themselves, within the weight limit specified by the manufacturer; some junior models then take over for older kids. Up to 12 years old, a helmet that is secured and CE marked is mandatory, including for passengers, reminds service-public.gouv.fr. Before comparing two crossed-out prices, check if the same seat exists in both frame and luggage rack versions, and if the support is included: a seat on promotion without its fixation compares to another seat alone, not to a complete set. Brands of baby seats
Polisport, a Portuguese manufacturer, supports the child from one seat to another with its Guppy family: a steering tube adapter compatible with an electric bike display for the front, versions with a clamp or MIK plate at the back, and the Guppy Junior for older kids.
Bobike, a Dutch brand linked to the Polisport group, offers the One Mini at the front and the Exclusive Evolve Maxi at the back, in luggage rack or frame versions, with a rear fixation sold separately.
Hamax adjusts the tilt of its Amaze up to 12.5 degrees with one hand without getting off the bike; the frame version attaches behind the seat tube, from 28 to 40 mm in diameter.
