During Black Friday, this page brings together mountain bike seat posts, often on sale: cable-operated, hydraulic or wireless, dropper posts for hiking, rigid posts and Pivotal models. Vélo-Store keeps these reduced prices on the posts throughout November. Before comparing, note the diameter written on the post in place and, for a dropper post, the insertion depth your frame allows.
A seatpost does not allow for any guesswork: its diameter must match the inside of the seat tube, to the nearest tenth of a millimetre. It is marked on the current post, near the minimum insertion line. Recent MTBs mainly use 30.9, 31.6 or 34.9 mm, while many older models use 27.2 mm. The page also includes rarer sizes, from 26.4 to 30.6 mm, useful for older frames: check them carefully before ordering.
The complete guide, including travel choice and maintenance, can be found on the MTB seatposts page, available all year round.
For a telescopic post, three data points determine compatibility: total length, travel, and the insertion depth available in your frame. Some specifications provide these: the Highline 3 from crankbrothers comes in lengths of 270 or 360 mm, the Aeffect R from Race Face in 100 or 170 mm of travel. Each variation is compared to itself: a crossed-out price on the 100 mm version says nothing about the 170 mm version. The contents also affect the actual discount: the Reverb Stealth is offered here with its remote, while the wireless remote of the Reverb AXS XPLR is often sold separately, an additional purchase that needs to be added to the displayed price. Finally, routing matters: a cable entering from the bottom of the post implies a frame drilled for it.
Suspended posts are chosen based on the rider's weight: the SP-S07 from XLC comes in several versions, for example, for 65 to 85 kg or 100 to 120 kg. Among rigid posts, some have a setback, like the Offset Edition from Ergotec, while others are straight. Pivotal posts from Answer only accept a Pivotal-mounted saddle. The page also features gravel posts, like the Gravel Discover from Pro and the Reverb AXS XPLR, as well as Rockshox spare parts.
A new post often calls for a new seat: the MTB saddles from Black Friday are gathered on their own page. For a road or city bike, check out the road seatposts and city seatposts in the promotion. After Black Friday, the clearance and new arrivals complete the offer.
Ergotec also ranks its seatposts in its Safety Level classification, from 1 to 6, which takes into account the bike, usage, and weight to carry; its SP-10 vario is a suspended post.
Race Face offers the telescopic Aeffect R and rigid posts such as Turbine, Turbine SL, Next, and Ride.
Answer provides Pivotal posts here, on which the saddle is mounted with a screw that passes through it.
Pro, the component brand of Shimano, offers its telescopic posts Tharsis and LT for MTB and Discover for gravel.
crankbrothers offers its telescopic Highline in versions 3, 7, and 11, from diameters 27.2 to 34.9 mm.
Rockshox, a suspension specialist within SRAM, offers the Reverb in Stealth version with hydraulic control and in AXS wireless version.
Because it is set around Thanksgiving, an American holiday celebrated on a Thursday, which changes date each year: Black Friday is the following Friday. Around this day, Vélo-Store offers its Black Friday discounts on seatposts throughout November.
The answer is on the post itself, usually next to the minimum insertion mark. If the marking is worn off, use calipers to measure the inside diameter of the tube or check the frame documentation: the outside diameter of the tube is irrelevant here.
It’s often possible if the frame diameter is available in a telescopic option and the seat tube is deep enough. Without drilling for internal routing, a model with external routing is needed, where the cable connects to the top of the post.
Align diameter, travel, and total length, then check whether the remote and cable are included. A post without a remote requires an additional purchase, which should be factored into the calculation.
No: its spring is designed for a weight range, which is indicated in the name of certain versions. Choose one that accommodates your weighed setup, without exceeding the maximum load stated.
