Black Friday discounts apply to bicycle brake pads for MTB, road, gravel, and electric bike disc brakes, in resin or metal, sold by the pair or in workshop boxes. These promotions run throughout November at Vélo-Store. A pad only fits the caliper it’s designed for: check the brand and model of your brake.
Pads wear out quickly on a mountain bike, in the rain or on an electric bike: having some in advance prevents you from stopping the bike on the day when braking starts to weaken. A pair fits one caliper; a bike with two disc brakes needs two, and a box of ten or twenty-five pairs is better suited for a workshop or club. To read a discount, bring back the crossed-out price to the pair, with the same shape and lining, and check the product sheet to see if the spring and pin are included.
The shape depends on the caliper, not the bike. Note the reference engraved on the brake body, BR-M8100 or BR-R7070 for example, then search for the pad designed for it. Aftermarket brands name their pads after compatible brakes, Shimano, Sram, Magura, Formula or Hope, and some still cover older brakes, like the Magura Clara, Louise or Julie.
The page for bike brake pads details wear, bedding in, and lining choices throughout the year. A grooved disc quickly wears new pads: then check out the discs in Black Friday. A leaking caliper can be replaced among the calipers on offer, and the bleeding is prepared with braking spare parts. Next comes clearance and new arrivals.
Shimano codes each pad by its shape, generation, and support, from the B05S of entry-level brakes to the J04C-MF metal with fins, sold by the pair or in twenty-five.
Elvedes sells its pads in sets of ten pairs, in organic, metal, or metal and carbon, and includes a list of compatible brakes in each label.
CL Brakes, a French manufacturer from Gennevilliers, numbers its pads and adds VX or VRX according to the sintered compound, with a separate road range.
Galfer offers pads for recent calipers like the Sram Maven or the Campagnolo Ekar, and for older brakes from Magura, Hope or Formula.
Sinter, a Slovenian manufacturer of organic linings, numbers its references by compatible brake types, Shimano, Sram, Avid, Magura or Formula, sold by the pair or in twenty-five.
Yes. The day that gives its name to the operation follows Thanksgiving, but Vélo-Store keeps its discounts on brake pads throughout the entire month of November. For two disc brakes, plan for two pairs, the same shape if the front and rear calipers are identical.
Remove the wheel and look at the thickness of remaining lining: Shimano recommends replacing its pads as soon as they reach 0.5 mm. A metallic noise or a lever that goes further than before are also signs of wear.
Sintered metal handles the heat from long and hard braking better. Just check that your discs accept it; otherwise, stick to a resin designed for heavy use.
They match the shape of the original pad and often offer several linings. Choose the one that fits your use and your disc, then bed them in like original pads.
Replace them: a soaked lining doesn't regain its effectiveness. Clean the disc with a degreaser designed for brakes, fix the leak, then mount and bed in new pads.
