A BMX seat post in Black Friday is compared on three measurements: its diameter, which is determined by the frame, 22.2, 25.4 or 27.2 mm, its length, from the short post used in freestyle to the long post for tall race riders, and its head, pivotal or stealth. The discounts from the event, extended throughout November, can only be assessed based on these three equal measurements.
The same name of post covers several parts, and a promotion sometimes only applies to one version: the pivotal from Insight is available in 22.2 and 27.2 mm, while the T-Bone from Tioga comes in 25.4 and 27.2 mm. So, compare two crossed-out prices with the same diameter and length, then check the material: forged or machined aluminium for most posts, reinforced nylon with an alloy insert for the D-Lite from Tioga, which is lighter.
Insight provides race riders with its aluminium pivotal post, available in diameters suitable for small frames up to pro frames.
Kink BMX offers a pivotal post and the Stealth, in 25.4 mm, forged from 6061-T6 aluminium and available in various lengths.
Tioga combines two extremes: the T-Bone Pivotal, a long 320 mm post made from machined aluminium, and the D-Lite Pivotal, a short post made from nylon, intended for racing.
Besides Black Friday, the BMX seat posts have their permanent page, which covers materials and shaped designs. During Black Friday, the post pairs with one of the BMX saddles on sale, and the rest of the cockpit can be found among the BMX components. For a mountain bike, check out the MTB seat posts; the clearance items go under clearance.
If you keep a standard pivotal saddle, both are suitable. If aiming for a stealth saddle, which has no slot on top, take a stealth post: its bolt tightens from underneath.
Because the saddle stays low to avoid interfering with tricks: a post of a few centimeters is enough and weighs less. A longer post is only for riders who want to sit higher.
The diameter engraved on the current post, its length once removed from the frame, and the type of saddle mounted, pivotal, stealth, or with rails. Without these three pieces of information, a saddle or grips are safer gifts.
Black Friday is mainly centered around the day after Thanksgiving, but at Vélo-Store, its discounts cover the entire month. Enough time to take out the current post from the frame, read the diameter engraved on it, and measure it before making a choice.
Rarely: MTB posts have a clamp head for rail saddles and often larger diameters. On a BMX with a pivotal saddle, you need a pivotal or stealth post that fits the frame diameter.
